William A. Lohmeyer, 86 of Sullivan, Missouri went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

William Arthur known as Bill was born on August 6, 1937 in St. Louis, MO to the late Oliver W. and Thelma J. (Hoffman) Lohmeyer. Bill grew up and attended school in St. Louis with his two brothers, Robert and Gerald. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served four years over seas. He was employed as a mechanic for Bussman Fuse Company from 1954 to 1996. After forty-two years he retired to enjoy traveling with his beloved wife, Barb.

Bill was united in marriage to Barbara Ann (Morrison) Wright on April 16, 1966 and subsequently inherited two sons, Ted and Dave. Married for over 57 years, Bill and Barb made their home in Crystal City, Arnold, Cedar Hill and Desoto before coming to Sullivan in 2016. They made many friends and enjoyed many good times along their journey.

Bill attended church as a boy however he accepted Jesus as his Savior on April 5, 1980. Bill and Barb enjoyed traveling together immensely and even served as camp hosts in several state parks around Missouri. They also enjoyed cruises and taking their motorhome to Texas where they spent many winters. While in Texas they formed many friendships while playing Bingo, various board games and especially shuffie board together.

Having been a mechanic all of his life, Bill enjoyed working on cars. His favorite was a 1966 turquoise Ford Mustang. He also liked to camp, fish and drive Demolition Derby Cars. Bill was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan, where his grandson Joshua Wright is the pastor.

Bill had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh at all of life’s situations as well as watching comedy movies. He always looked at the funny side of life and spent his life being kind, loving and enjoyed an easy going lifestyle. His love of watching the St. Louis Cardinals was his greatest of hobbies and he tried his best to never miss a game.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Barb Lohmeyer of Sullivan, MO; two step-sons, Theodore Wright and wife Kelley of Fenton, MO and Pastor David Wright and wife Karen of St. Clair, MO; five grand- children; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Gerald Lohmeyer and

great grandson Ezekiel Otten.

 

Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastors David Wright and Josh Wright officiating.  Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, prior to the service at the Eaton Funeral Home.

Memorial Contributions may be given in Bill’s memory to New Testament Baptist Church.
