Eagles Baseball Savors Sweet 11-5 Win Over St. James Tigers

The Eagles (7-3) feasted on both the St. James Tigers (1-5) and Skittles in an 11-5 win at home on Monday, Apr. 9. Each Sullivan player was given candy for each time they reached third base.

Leadoff batter Gavin Schmidt was hungry for both Skittles and a victory. He led his squad with four RBIs and four hits while recording a run. After the game, head coach Ian Whitson rewarded Schmidt with his first Most Valuable Player belt of the season.

Chase Blue racked up a team-high two runs. He also delivered an RBI, a hit and a walk.

Landen Doza dominated with three runs, a hit and a walk.

Lucas Parsons pulled off two RBIs and a hit.

Dayton Skaggs cooked up two hits, a run and an RBI.

Drake Gawer powered off with two hits, an RBI and a walk.

Cambrian Koch brought in a run and a hit.

Seth Valley tallied a run and a walk.

Raiden Redd and Alex Toews both made it home once, while Mitchell Garner had a walk.

With 30 at-bats, the Eagles’ lineup soared to 12 hits, 9 RBIs and six walks.

Nate McReynolds started on the mound for three innings, delivering three strikeouts and giving up four hits.

Parsons came out of the bullpen in the top of the fourth. He led the rotation with four strikeouts while surrendering three walks, an earned run and a hit.

Blue pitched the final inning and struck out one batter. He allowed two hits, an earned run and a walk.
