Eagles Fly High Over Dutchmen In 3-1 District Win

Sullivan (14-5) edged Owensville (7-12) 3-1 in a Class 4 District 4 clash on Thursday, Apr. 25.

Both defenses shut one another out on the diamond in the first two innings. Seth Valley broke the scoring drought for Sullivan in the top of the 3rd.  He punched it home for a 1-0 lead after Chase Blue ripped a grounder into a fielder’s choice.

The Eagles kept steamrolling ahead when they returned to bat. Gavin Schmidt launched a fly ball over center field, driving Lucas Parsons from second base to score.

In the top of the 5th, Mitchell Garner capitalized on a big play to give Sullivan an unanswered 3-run lead. As the Dutchmen focused on retrieving Skaggs’ fly ball, Garner rushed home for the Eagles’ final run.

McReynolds got his first belt a week prior for rocking the mound in a 3-1 district victory over St. Clair.
