Sullivan Strikes Gold Over Shamrocks

The Eagles (12-5) lucked out the Shamrocks (2-10) in a 14-1 conference victory on Monday, Apr. 22. 

Kaden Smith prevented the Shamrocks from taking home in the three innings he pitched. Along with Lucas Parsons, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player after the game.

Grant Halmick pitched the final two innings and shut the door on New Haven with three strikeouts. He allowed two hits and a walk. 

The Eagles came in hot with four runs in the top of the first. Gavin Schmidt slid deep into the dirt for Sullivan’s first run. Against New Haven, he led his squad with three runs and two hits. Schmidt also drew up an RBI and a walk. 

Right afterward, Dayton Skaggs, Chase Blue, and Landen Doza followed up with scores to mark an early 4-0 Sullivan lead. 

Skaggs broke away for 2 RBIs, a run, a hit and a walk during the game. 

Blue balled out with two runs, two walks and an RBI. 

Doza picked up a run, an RBI and a hit. 

The Eagles continued to fire on all cylinders when they returned to bat. Alex Toews, Skaggs, Mitchell Garner and Blue were able to punch it home in one drive. 

Toews collected two RBIs, a run and a hit against the Shamrocks. 

Garner had a big day with two runs, an RBI and a hit. 

In the top of the third, Seth Valley, Schmidt, Carey, and Drake Gawer pushed the Eagles to a 13-0 lead.

Valley and Gawer each racked up a run and a hit during the match. 

Carey pulled off his first run of the season and two walks.

Toews hammered a line drive in the top of the 5th that drove Garner and Halmick home. 

Along with his score, Halmick also had a walk against New Haven. 

Parsons drove in a team-high 3 RBIs while also making a hit. 

Nate McReynolds brought in an RBI and a hit. 

Raiden Redd took two walks. 

The Eagles cooked up 12 RBIs, 10 hits, and nine walks with 26 at-bat appearances.
